About this book
Ellinor leaves southern Sweden for a date with a literary critic in Stockholm, entering a world where books, money and sexual expectations are awkwardly entangled. Elsewhere, a writer dreams of finding a lover who can understand every language he speaks. Their stories connect with an Italian family and a manuscript whose fate exposes competing claims to artistic importance. Moving among distinct voices, the novel treats the search for intimacy with mordant humour and sudden vulnerability. Its literary games remain grounded in uncomfortable encounters between people who want to be understood but often prefer controlling the conversation.
