About this book
Fourteen-year-old Sophie Amundsen comes home one day to find two questions in her letterbox: Who are you? Where does the world come from? So begins a correspondence with an unknown philosopher who guides her through Western thought, from the pre-Socratics through Descartes, Kant and beyond. Yet strange things keep happening around Sophie, including postcards addressed to another girl, and she starts to suspect her world is not quite what it seems. Part novel and part introduction to philosophy, the book sets each thinker out in a self-contained lesson while a playful mystery builds alongside. It is curious, warm and inventive.
