About this book
Aboard the Six-Thousand Ship, human and humanoid workers tend a collection of strange objects recovered from a distant planet. Their encounters with these artifacts begin to unsettle their memories, desires and ideas about what separates people from machines. Told through a sequence of brief employee testimonies, the novel gradually reveals mounting tensions between the crew and the corporation overseeing them. Compact, eerie and darkly playful, it combines a workplace mystery with philosophical science fiction while building an unusually intimate portrait of an entire ship in crisis.
